26 wrestling participants from Holland, France, Britain and our host Germany joined 524 other sports colleagues from volleyball, badminton and swimming from many other European countries made this year's event both a memorable and inspiring event.

Jek from LAW London represented our club for his first time at this event and was hosted by Michael Kehr in central Frankfurt. Freddy the wrestling host organised the entire weekend meticulously. Registration took place on Friday evening on a riverside boat. Saturday morning was filled with a Tai Bo work out and a brief clinic. After a brief break for light lunch, the tournament began with officials made up from both Germany and Holland. Superb novice wrestling which saw several similar faces with much improved skills and techniques obviously from many hours of training and improved coaching.

Unfortunately, Tilo from Stuttgart received an elbow injury from a double leg takedown and had to be carted off to hospital. It was really nice to hear from Tilo who made a great effort to turn up for the goodbye brunch on Sunday with his arm in a sling, that he will be back possibly in time for the Paris tournament in Easter 2001. This is what makes a wrestling different from any other sporting discipline. Jek did not waste any time to inscribe the first tattoo onto Tilo's plaster cast. Saturday evening dinner was spend at the Sports Restaurant joining force with over 300 swimmers followed by a disco into the small hours.

Sunday brunch was held at the Meridien hotel with a superb banquet style spread of different cuisines to satisfy the different cultures. On behalf of our club and the other participants and spectators, we extend our greatest thanks and appreciation firstly to Freddy and his team of organisers and secondly to the event organisers for their fantastic effort and job well done.
